The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization with its Headquarters in Vienna is the international organization setting up the global verification system foreseen under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), which is the Treaty banning any nuclear-weapon-test explosion or any other nuclear explosion. The Treaty provides for a global verification regime, including a network of 337 stations worldwide, a communications system, an international data centre and on-site inspections to monitor compliance.
We seek to recruit a highly qualified candidate for the following position in the Commission’s Provisional Technical Secretariat:

Duties and responsibilities:
Under the overall guidance of Chief, Monitoring Facilities Support Section and the direct supervision of the Head, Logistics Support Unit, International Monitoring System Division (IMS), the incumbent will carry out the following duties:
  • Contribute to the development of the Organization’s Sustainment and Support Analysis capability by providing direct support to the Logistics Support Unit/Analysis Team;
  • Perform tasks associated with extract, transform, load (ETL) of sustainment data using the provided software and tools;
  • Assist modelling and updating models created for sustainment optimization of IMS stations;
  • Assist reviewing various business processes ranging from shipping procedures to repair routes;
  • Assist documenting analysis related processes and database structures;
  • Assist maintaining the Modelling Environment (built up by virtual machines,
  • accounts and simple databases) by keeping up to date of various software licenses, warranties, of hardware and software used by the analysis team;
  • Undertake tasks related to the procurement of services and goods related to analysis and modelling;
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent is required; IT Certifications in Oracle SQL developer or similiar training is an asset;
  2. At least five years relevant work experience including experience with either big data, data analysis and/or database management is essential;
  3. Knowledge of common desktop hardware and software platforms and standards are essential;
  4. Strong knowledge of MS Excel and SQL with ability to extract and process data from multiple IT sources are essential;
  5. Good understanding of reliability analysis is an asset;
  6. Experience with relevant software, business intelligence tools, analysis software preferably logistics/engineering related is an asset;
  7. Working experience with standardized ticketing systems such as JIRA is an asset;
  8. Experience in project management (such as PRINCE2, SCRUM) is an asset;
  9. Working knowledge of written and spoken English is required. Working knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Remuneration/Contract:
The indicative tax-free annual net base salary for this position is Euro 44,684. The salary offered is subject to deductions of contributions to the CTBTO Provident Fund and Health Insurance Scheme or their approved equivalents.

Short Term Appointments shall initially be made under a contract for a period not to exceed 364 days, subject to the successful completion of the probation period set forth in the Letter of Appointment.
